Developing Story Lines at Pan Pacs
It’s the second day of the 2014 Pan Pacific Championships, and a number of storylines are developing like the soggy rain clouds on the east coast of Queensland. Here’s a look at a few of them.
Can't Miss Race of the Pan Pacific Championships
Michael Phelps has rejuvenated swimming. Like a magician returning to the stage, or a hero to the battlefield, Phelps has once again sparked media interest, fan interest, and general interest back into the sport.
Ledecky takes two on first night of Pan Pacs
Olympian Katie Ledecky won two events and set two meet records Thursday, on the first night of the 2014 Pan Pacific Championships. The 17-year-old distance phenom opened the night with a victory in the women’s 200m freestyle, turning in a time of 1:55.74. She then returned to the pool later in the session to take the 800m free in 8:11.35.
Pan Pac Meet Notes: Day 1
This morning, during the first prelims session of the 2014 Pan Pacific Championships, Matt Grevers and Ryan Murphy swam faster than the former meet record in the men’s 100m backstroke. A lot has been said about the American men’s dominance in this event, but to really get an appreciation of it, it helps to step back and look at the bigger picture.
