Volunteers - the heart of our organization
Volunteers make it possible
USA Swimming is a non-profit organization made up of very dedicated volunteers.Without our thousands of volunteers across the nation, we would not be able to serve our 400,000 members.
Interested individuals - often swim parents - donate their time, energy and expertise at every level from the national Board of Directors to the decks of thousands of local swimming clubs across the nation.
Whether you are an experienced timer or a new parent just looking to get involved, this section will help you find your place as a supporter of "America's Swim Team."
New Pre-Employment Screening Program
At the 2010 U.S. Aquatic Sports Convention, the USA Swimming House of Delegates approved a series of rules regarding the Athlete Protection Program. One of these measures was Article 502.6.8 which requires clubs to comply with USA Swimming’s Pre-Employment Screening program.
The new requirement is effective August 31, 2011.
Read all the details at our dedicated Pre-Employment Screening page.
Volunteer Resource Library
The LSC Development Committee is pleased to present a collection of resources to help LSCs, clubs, and coaches with the management of volunteers. This includes information to recognize, recruit, train, and retain volunteers. Sources from both inside and outside of swimming are presented to cover a wide variety of needs. Generally information is not edited down to just volunteers in swimming, so some information may be appropriate for your setting and others not as relevant.
