Sigma Gamma Rho Swim Clinic
A first of its kind for both Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. and USA Swimming, this partnership will accomplish the following:
1) Make water safety education and learn to swim programs a part of the sorority’s mandatory member curriculum and community service outreach beginning this fall.
2) Provide an easy entry into the sport of swimming through the sorority’s more than 100,000 members and 500 chapters across the United States.
3) Make water safety a mandatory part of their Rhoer Curriculum as well as part of their youth symposium and Project Reassurance teachings.
Sorors Learn to Swim at AT&T Winter Nationals
Ladies from the southeastern region of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority were treated to an exclusive swim clinic on the second day of the 2013 AT&T Winter National Championships. The clinic was hosted by title sponsor AT&T and led by Olympian and first African-American woman to make the National Team and medal, Maritza Correia.
Learn to Swim
USA Swimming, Speedo USA and two-time Olympic gold medalist Summer Sanders have joined forces to help grow participation in swimming as part of a new, national swimming campaign called SwimToday.
Each year swim meets are held that bring different cultures together in an open and inclusive atmosphere to enjoy swimming. These “cultural swim meets” are important because they celebrate different ethnic heritages or cultural icons
