Several weeks ago it was announced that our Chief Executive Officer, Chuck Wielgus, will retire later this year after 20 years at the helm of USA Swimming. I have had the good fortune to have been able to work closely with Chuck for the past two years and I can't thank him enough for his patience, insight and openness over that period. USA Swimming launched a new social media campaign today to highlight the benefits of becoming a swimming official. The campaign was designed in collaboration with the Officials’ Committee, and aims to attract new officials and retain existing officials.
The Unique Activities of National Select Camp
Once a year, USA Swimming selects 68 top level athletes for National Select Camp where they eat, sleep and train like National team athletes at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. Although training twice a day for three days is exhausting, the USA Swimming camp staff creates a fun environment for the team to have a beneficial but memorable weekend.
