Hardy breaks world record as World Cup in Berlin concludes

U.S. swimmers had a strong night in the water Sunday at the FINA World Cup in Berlin. Jessica Hardy (Long Beach, Calif.) broke her own world record and won gold in the women’s 50m breast while Michael Phelps (Baltimore, Md.), Peter Marshall (Atlanta, Ga.), Lauren Driscoll (Cooper City, Fla.) and Whitney Myers (Oxford, Ohio) all claimed silver medals on the second and final night of the meet in Germany.

Sutton sets second meet record in Minneapolis

Olympian Chloe Sutton of Mission Viejo Nadadores wrapped up the final night of the Minneapolis Grand Prix with a meet record in the women’s 1650-yard freestyle. It was her second gold medal of the three-day meet, her fourth medal overall.

USA Swimming Foundation announces nominees for the 2009 Golden Goggle Awards

The USA Swimming Foundation today released the nominations for the Golden Goggle Awards, a star-studded awards gala celebrating the accomplishments of top American swimmers in 2009. The event will take place Sunday, November 22 at the Beverly Hilton and will feature the 2009 U.S. World Championships swim team, including Michael Phelps, Rebecca Soni, Ryan Lochte, Dara Torres, Ariana Kukors and Dana Vollmer.
