Dara Torres erased a second American short course record Sunday at the FINA World Cup meet in Berlin. Torres posted a bronze-medal time of 52.79 to eclipse Natalie Coughlin’s record by three-hundredths of a second.
Following suit, Randall Bal set the second American record of the meet when he collected his 17th World Cup gold medal with a win in the 50m backstroke. His time was 23.33 was .06 faster than Peter Marshall’s 23.39 set in 2006.
Leila Vaziri earned her second bronze medal of the weekend in the women’s 100m back with a time of 59.16.
