Hardy, Marshall were top Americans in Moscow  (11/9/2009)  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

American swimmer Jessica Hardy won two events and set a world record Friday and Saturday at the FINA World Cup meet in Moscow. Hardy shattered the world record in the in the 50m breast in 29.36, and set a World Cup record in the 100m breast in 1:03.75.

Fellow American Peter Marshall also won two events in Moscow, taking the 100m back in 49.49 and tying with Russia’s Stanislav Donets in the 50m back in 22.94.

Hardy’s swim in the 50m breast was the top women’s performance of the meet, and she received $10,000 for her effort.

After two legs of the FINA World Cup Hardy and Marshall sit atop the women’s and men’s overall rankings with 85 and 47 points, respectively. The winners of the series will be awarded a total of $100,000.
