Susan Woessner was named Director of Safe Sport at USA Swimming on September 13, 2010.
In her role asDirector of Safe Sport, Susan is responsible for the oversight of all aspects of USA Swimming’s athlete protection policies, guidelines, educational programs, reporting and adjudication services, and other activities and functions related to USA Swimming’s efforts to foster safe, healthy and positive sport environments.
Susan has worked with USA Swimming since 2004, in both the Business Operations and National Team divisions. She received a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Texas and has experience working in the field with Girls, Inc., the Girls’ Empowerment Network of Austin and Southwest Key Programs.
Susan counts empowering young people among her passions. She has volunteered as a court appointed special advocate for CASA of the Pikes Peak Region and as a confidential victim advocate for TESSA of Colorado Springs. In 2014, she was recognized as a "Rising Star" by the Colorado Springs Business Journal.
From 1998-2002, Susan swam competitively for Indiana University. There she was awarded the Indiana University Scholastic Achievement Award, the IU Anita Aldrich Leadership Award and the IU Athletic Department Aline A. Robinson Mental Attitude Award.
Susan lives in Denver, CO, with her husband, Ryan Mooney.
