Shanteau's Successful Swim For Your Life Event
Eric Shanteau is celebrating his 29th birthday knowing that he has made a difference in the fight against cancer.
Saturday, September 22 marked the third annual Swim For Your Life event, held near Atlanta, Ga. at Lake Lanier Resort. The event benefitted the Lance Armstrong Foundation and was a tremendous success, bringing over 1,000 spectators, supporters and volunteers together to watch the race.
Of the 682 participants who took a stand against cancer, Olympians Rebecca Soni, Amanda Weir, Kathleen Hersey, Ricky Berens, Jimmy Feigen, Mark Gangloff, Aaron Peirsol, Dominik Meichtry and Rowdy Gaines joined forces with Shanteau to help him put together yet another amazing event. To top off the weekend, the Olympians led a swim clinic where the Swim For Your Life participants had a chance to learn technique, skills and race strategy from the best in the world.
The event totaled over $100,000, which will directly benefit programs and services at the Lance Armstrong Foundation to help cancer patients fight back.
