Foundation Executive Director Speaks at Congressional Briefing on International Water Safety Day
On May 15th, the USA Swimming Foundation's Executive Director, Debbie Hesse, along with Connie Harvey of the American Red Cross, Kimberly Charis of the Center for Safe and Healthy Schools and Alicia McConnell, US Olympic Committee Director, were part of a Congressional Briefing on International Water Safety Day. Also joining the briefing was Make a Splash Local Partner, Wanda Butts of The Josh Project and a 2012 Top Ten CNN Hero.
The goal of the briefing was to create awareness of International Water Safety Day and to share with Congress the need for water safety education curriculum to be taught in first and secondary schools. This was a big day for all organizations with a mission of water safety and saving lives through learn-to-swim!
