“I love being able to participate in events like this,” said Donahue. “The group of kids that will be there are typically beginners learning how to swim. It's a special thing being able to see these kids get so excited about swimming. Some of them start off scared of the water and improve so much by the end.”

Donahue returns to her alma mater, Western Kentucky University, to participate in the program. Roughly 300 swimmers will participate in the program. At the end of her appearance, the 2012 Olympian will sign autographs and take photos with the swimmers.

Donahue’s appearance is part of USA Swimming’s Athlete Partnership Program. The program is a platform for National Team swimmer to encourage kids and adults to take up the sport as a healthy and positive activity. These appearances directly promote the sport and the healthy lifestyle it represents. To find more information about how to get started in the sport, visit SwimToday.org.
