Relay Records Fall on Night Two in Irvine

Carmel Swim Club set the meet and NAG record in the women's 4x100m freestyle relay on Thursday night at the Speedo Junior National Championships in Irvine Calif. Indiana University followed with the meet record in the men's 4x100m freestyle relay.

 

Carmel Swim Club blazed to the wall in 3:44.88 to claim the top spot. Palo Alto Stanford Aquatics took second in 3:48.49. North Baltimore Aquatic Club came in third with a time of 3:49.51.

 

In the men's 4x100m freestyle relay, Indiana University set the meet record with a time of 3:24.62. Tennessee Aquatics took second in 3:27.41. SwimAtlanta finished third in 3:27.90.

 

The second night of action got off to a thrilling start as Allie Szekely of Central Bucks Swim Team swam the ninth fastest 15-16 Age Group time in history to win the 200m backstroke in a time of 2:11.29. Claire Adams of Carmel Swim Club touched second in 2:12.02 and Grace Ariola of Waves Bloomington/Normal Y Swim Team finished third in a time of 2:12.69.

 

In the men's 200m backstroke Patrick Conaton of Badger Swim Club touched first in a tight top three, finishing with the win in 1:59.67. Patrick Mulcare of Tualatin Hills Swim Club finished just behind for second in 1:59.78 and Michael Taylor of Dynamo Swim Club touched third with a time of 1:59.90.

 

In the women's 100m freestyle Amy Bilquist of Carmel Swim Club touched the wall first in 54.85. Stanzi Moseley of Roadrunner Aquatics came in second with a time of 55.04 and Veronica Burchill finished in 55.89 to join her Carmel Swim Club teammate on the podium in third.

 

In the men's 100m freestyle it was Townley Haas of NOVA of Virginia Aquatics claiming victory in 50.12. Maxime Rooney of the Pleasanton Seahawks touched second in 50.60 and Knox Auerbach of Dynamo Swim Club took third with a time of 50.62.

 

In the women's 400m IM Kim Williams of the Bellevue Club Swim Team won handily in a time of 4:43.18. Savanna Faulconer of Y-Spartaquatics Swim Club claimed second place in 4:45.89 and Leah Stevens of Lakeside Swim Team took third in a time of 4:46.64.

 

In the men's 400m IM Curtis Ogren of Palo Alto Stanford Aquatics claimed the top spot with a time of 4:18.02. Abrahm Devine of Cascade Swim Club touched second in a time of 4:20.39 and Ian Rainey of the Wilton Y Wahoos Swim Club finished third in a time of 4:20.72.
