Olympic gold medalists Tyler Clary (Riverside, Calif.), Natalie Coughlin (Vallejo, Calif.) and Nathan Adrian (Bremerton, Wash.) were victorious Friday at the Arena Grand Prix at Mesa. The three-day meet concludes on Saturday, April 13.

Clary won each of his events, taking home the title in the 400m IM and the 200m back, while Coughlin and Adrian sprinted to first in the women’s and men’s 50m free at the Skyline Aquatic Center.

Clary opened the night with a convincing win in the 400IM, touching the wall in 4:24.90. Scott Weltz (San Jose, Calif.) finished second in 4:26.37 followed by Sam Smiddy (Miami, Fla.) in 4:26.86.

“I was really happy I was able to pull off the double win tonight,” Clary said. “I definitely didn’t think I was going to be able to pull off the (200 backstroke) after the 400IM, but I did and I’m very happy with that.”
