WUGs: Day 7 Prelims Rundown
The final day of the preliminary races concluded today at the World University Games in Kazan, Russia.

The prelims began with Stephanie Peacock (Cape Coral, Fla.) advancing to the women’s 400-meter freestyle final. Peacock – who already has two medals at the University Games – finished in 4:12.21. Chelsea Chenault (Walnut Creek, Calif.) had a time of 4:14.04, but missed the final. Russia’s Elena Sokolova had the top qualifying time, touching in 4:11.71.
Both Michael Weiss (Reno, Nev.) and Adam Small (Tempe, Ariz.) secured a spot in the men’s 400m individual medley final later tonight. Weiss won his heat in 4:20.78, and Small finished in 4:21.64. The top seed went to Japan’s Takehharu Fujimori in 4:19.47.
The final two events of the night were the women’s and men’s 4x100m medley relay. The women’s team of Kendyl Stewart (Carlsbad, Calif.), Emily McClellan (Whitewater, Wis.), Cindy Tran (Westminster, Calif.) and Andrea Murez (Venice, Calif.) finished in 4:06.51, behind the Russian’s time of 4:04.46. The men locked up the third overall seed in the finals behind Japan (3:37.10) and Russia (3:37.54). The team of Jacob Pebley (Corvallis, Ore.),Cody Miller (Las Vegas, Nev.), Giles Smith (Baltimore, Md.) and Derek Toomey (Minneapolis, Minn.) finished in 3:38.03.
