Four U.S. Olympians Part of USO Handshake Tour

USAS ShieldU.S. Olympic swimmers Ryan Lochte (Daytona Beach, Fla.), Tyler Clary (Riverside, Calif.), Claire Donahue (Lenoir City, Tenn.) and Micah Lawrence (Pflugerville, Texas) will take part in the USO Handshake Tour at Camp LeJeune on Saturday in Jacksonville, N.C.

USO Handshake Tours are a way to interact and give thanks to the men and women serving in the U.S. armed forces. A handshake, an autograph or a conversation shows the troops how much they are valued.

“It feels great to give back to the people who give so much to us,” said Clary, an Olympic gold medalist. “Being able to show my support for the military is a huge honor and privilege of which I'm immensely proud.”

During their appearance, the USA Swimming National Teamers will put on two swim clinics for the troops. They will also do a meet and greet where they can sign autographs and take pictures with the troops.

The USO appearance is part of USA Swimming’s Athlete Partnership Program. The program is a platform for National Team swimmer to encourage kids and adults to take up the sport as a healthy and positive activity. These appearances directly promote the sport and the healthy lifestyle it represents. To find more information about how to get started in the sport, visit
