Olympian Alex Meyer to Appear at Open Water Select Camp
U.S. Olympian Alex Meyer (Ithaca, N.Y.) will make an appearance at the Open Water Select Camp, which runs from June 10-14 at Lake Castaic in Santa Clarita, California.
“I'm on my way out to California now, and I am looking forward to the camp and Nationals,” said Meyer. “I'm glad that the camp is back to the pre-Nationals format, as I think this encourages participation in Open Water Nationals. It gives the campers a real, practical experience in which to put to use the skills they've recently acquired and honed. I attribute a lot of my own success in open water to my experience as a camper in 2009, so I enjoy giving back in this way.”
The camp is open to the media.
Meyer will also be competing in the 2014 USA Swimming Open Water National Championships on June 13 and 15 at Lake Castaic. Meyer won the 10-kilometer national title last year.
Meyer’s appearance at the Open Water Select Camp is part of USA Swimming’s Athlete Partnership Program. The program is a platform for National Team swimmers to encourage kids and adults to take up the sport as a healthy and positive activity. These appearances directly promote the sport and the healthy lifestyle it represents. To find more information about how to get started in the sport, visit SwimToday.org.
