Ten Year-End Grants Awarded To USA Swimming Foundation’s Make a Splash Local Partners
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Through a generous donation from the F.M. Kirby Foundation and additional resources from the USA Swimming Foundation, ten additional grants totaling $52,000 were awarded to the USA Swimming Foundation’s Make a Splash Local Partners between September and December of 2013.
Located in Morristown, N.J., the F.M. Kirby Foundation is a family foundation with grantees that are of particular interest to five generations of family members which includes a wide range of organizations in education, health and medicine, the arts and humanities, civic and public affairs, as well as religious, welfare and youth organizations.
“Since inception, the USA Swimming Foundation has awarded nearly $3 Million in grant awards to Make a Splash Local Partners who have provided more than 65,000 scholarships for swim lessons,” says USA Swimming Foundation Executive Director, Debbie Hesse.
The Make a Splash Local Partners that received grants were:
• New York City Department of Parks and Recreation, New York.
• Swim Strong Foundation, New York.
• Asphalt Green, New York.
• Farmington Aquatic Center, New Mexico.
• South Lane School District, Oregon.
• South Shore Family YMCA, Massachusetts.
• City of Chula Vista, California.
• Seastars Aquatics, Florida.
• YMCA of Ponca City, Oklahoma.
• Foreman-Reynaud Community Center, Louisiana.
These Make a Splash Local Partners have projected that they will provide more than 2000 scholarships for children to learn to swim in their programs.
The USA Swimming Foundation launched their 2014 Make a Splash grant application for Local Partners on January 7, 2014. The deadline to apply for funding is February 20, 2014. For more information visit:
