Head Coach Jim Wood is the founder and owner of the Berkeley Aquatic Club and has been coaching elite and age group swimmers for more than 40 years. In 1977, he founded the Berkeley Aquatic Club. Today, the swim club has approximately 500 swimmers.
Prior to his move back to New Jersey, Wood was head swimming coach at the University of North Carolina. He has served President of USA Swimming, President of United States Aquatic Sports and Chairman of the USA Swimming Olympic International Operations Committee. He is currently the Chair of the USA Swimming National Team Steering Committee.
Wood graduated from John Hopkins University and attended graduate school at the University of North Carolina. He was honored with the USA Swimming Award in 2003, and in 2015, was named one of the “30 Most Influential People in Swimming over the Past 30 Years” by USA Swimming and Speedo USA.
