REGIONAL COACH CLINICS

USA Swimming's Regional Coach Clinics (RCC) provide coaches of all levels access to facilitated education, discussions, and activities. Each RCC will begin on Friday at 5pm, and conclude on Sunday at 1pm.

what you'll learn

Regional Coach Clinics are returning to each Zone in 2023 with a revamped approach to how USA Swimming serves its’ coaches.

With updated material and an improved teaching style, RCC participants will be equipped with the necessary tools to fulfill your commitments to your athletes and ignite your personal and professional growth.

Through hundreds of in-depth, personal interviews, USA Swimming collaborated with over 200 novice and experienced coaches to develop a curriculum dedicated to solving the challenges coaches face daily.

The following topics will be addressed at each Zone’s RCC:

  • Stroke technique and training (some clinics will feature an in-water component for visual learning)
  • Long-term athlete development training using the American Development Model (ADM)
  • Illustrating the key elements of quality coaching using the Quality Coaching Framework (QCF)
  • Coach Wellness

A stand-alone Mental Health Workshop will be offered at select RCC’s. To register for solely the Mental Health Workshop session, please click here. If you would like to attend both the RCC and Mental Health Workshop, please use the registration links below. To learn more about the Mental Health Workshop offering, please click here.

learning through facilitation

With the updates to our education curriculum, USA Swimming has also shifted its teaching style – directed learning to facilitated learning - to optimize your learning potential.

Facilitated learning encourages participants to take more control of their learning process as the educators provide you with the resources and support to get the most out of the sessions. This creates a learning environment centered around group collaboration to generate discussions focused on the solutions to the challenges facing coaches.

Benefits of facilitated learning:

  • Active involvement
  • Collaborative learning
  • Simulation of daily experience to solve for challenges

As a new head coach, I signed up simply looking to learn new material to become a better coach, but I walked away with much more.  I really enjoyed connecting with other coaches, and the content that I learned has really helped me both in and out of the pool.  The clinic far exceeded my expectations and I look forward to attending more in the future.
