CLBMS 201 is the follow-up course to the online 101 course. The approximately five hour in-person course is taught by USA Swimming staff members in an interactive, discussion based format. The course goes in depth on a variety of topics related to successful club governance for all club models. Completion of the 101 online course is highly advisable prior to attending a 201 course.
Some of topics covered in this course include:
- Mission and structure
- Policy setting
- Strategies for the future
- Engaging volunteers
- Meetings & agendas
- Developing leaders
- Insurance issues for clubs
- Safe Sport review
Attendance at this course is required prior to the second year of club membership. It also is strongly encouraged for all club leaders. This is a typical comment that we receive on the course evaluation, "I really wasn't looking forward to spending a beautiful weekend indoors listening to lectures. When the seminar concluded, I walked away re-excited about our team and with a lot of good ideas."
