MJ Truex, Programs & Services Director
MJ has been with USA Swimming since 2005. She spent the first quad working with USA Swimming’s National Team Division as part of the Performance Science & Technology Services Team where she worked closely with the National Team athletes and coaches. MJ moved to Club Development after the 2008 Beijing Games and served as a Sports Performance Consultant from 2008-2012. She visited numerous teams across the country delivering information to teams, coaches and athletes that directly impact performance (nutrition, technique, goal setting, etc.). In 2012 MJ became the Program Operations Manager where she took over managing the Regional Coaches Clinics, Online Webinars, Camps, Video projects, and the Club Development Website.
In 2013, she became the Programs and Services Manager and took on additional roles directly related to coach and club education. In July 2014, MJ was promoted to Director of Programs and Services, where USA Swimming’s Diversity & Inclusion efforts are based. MJ now not only oversees Diversity & Inclusion, but Local Swim Committees (LSCs), and Club Development's educational programming. Before coming to USA Swimming, MJ was a head coach on the collegiate level for seven years. She has been coaching for a local club team for the past decade. MJ is a graduate of New York University where she completed both her undergraduate and postgraduate work. She resides in Colorado Springs with her husband, three kids, and boxer.

Shaun Anderson, Diversity & Inclusion Consultant
Anderson joined the USA Swimming staff in 2009 following a very successful coaching career that included assistant coaching positions at Old Dominion University and the Tidewater Aquatics Club. He has also coached for the Greater Johnstown Dolphins in Johnstown, PA and Booker T. Washington in Norfolk, VA. As one of the founders of a non-profit, Diversity in Aquatics, and a faculty member in the department of Health & Physical Education at Norfolk State University, Anderson has championed numerous aquatic programs, swim lessons, water safety seminars, research projects, camps and clinics throughout the country as well as abroad.
During his undergraduate studies at Penn State University, Anderson was a four-year member of the swim team and three-year member of the track team. He was also a member of Penn State's first Swimming & Diving Big Ten Championship Team. After attaining his B.S in Kinesiology from Penn State University, Anderson continued his education at California State University, Long Beach where he received his MBA in finance.

Juan Caraveo, Diversity & Inclusion Consultant
Juan is the newest addition to the USA Swimming Diversity and Inclusion team. For the last 17 years Juan has lived and worked on the south side of Houston, TX. The first 6 years were spent as a teacher and high school swim coach where he taught elementary PE, high school teen leadership, intro to physics and chemistry and chemistry. Toward the end of his career in the classroom, and with the help of Patty Sweeney Juan, started the Silverlake Swim Team (currently the Pearland Pirates) and eventually the Synergy Aquatic Club. Today Synergy Aquatics is now a 240 member club known as Pearland Aquatics. Juan has coached swimmers to local, state and national levels of competition.
He was active in the Gulf LSC as a member of the technical planning committee and board of review. Juan served as a coach for the Gulf All-Star team, Texas Select Camp and head coach for the inaugural Gulf North American Challenge Cup Team. Juan has also been an assistant coach for the USA Swimming Southern Zone Select Camp, assistant coach for the National Diversity Camp and the head coach for the National Diversity Select Camp. Juan looks to use his experiences as a teacher-coach, entrepreneur and community minded leader to help advance the USA Swimming Diversity and Inclusion efforts.
