TAIPEI – Led by gold from Andrew Wilson (Bethesda, Md./Longhorn Aquatics) in the men’s 200-meter breaststroke, Team USA added six medals on Wednesday at the 2017 World University Games.

Wilson, who tied for gold in the 100m breast on Monday, touched in 2 minutes, 8.45 seconds – more than a second clear of the field – for the 200m victory and his second gold medal of the meet.

Joining Wilson on the podium Wednesday and winning individual silver for the United States were Justin Ress (Cary, N.C./NC State), who claimed his third medal in the men’s 50m backstroke in 24.73, Hannah Stevens (Lexington, Ohio/University of Missouri) in the women’s 100m back in 1:00.23 and Ella Eastin (Irvine, Calif./Stanford Swimming) in the women’s 200m individual medley in 2:11.12.

The women’s 800m freestyle relay – Claire Rasmus (New Orleans, La./Aggie Swim Club), Katie Drabot (Cedarburg, Wis./Stanford Swimming), Katie McLaughlin (Dana Point, Calif./California Aquatics) and Eastin – also earned silver, touching in 7:55.32 – just 4 hundredths of a second behind Russia, who won in 7:55.28.

Adding bronze for Team USA was Hannah Moore (Cary, N.C./NC State) in the women’s 1500m free with a time of 16:11.68.

Through four days of competition, the United States leads all nations with 14 medals – four gold, five silver and five bronze. Full results can be found at www.2017.taipei.

In other finals action, Taylor Dale (Dalton, Ga./Athens Bulldog Swim Club) placed fourth in the men’s 50m back, Ali DeLoof (Grosse Point, Mich./Club Wolverine) was fifth in the women’s 100m back, Justin Wright (Fresno, Calif./Fresno Dolphins Swim Team/Arizona) took sixth in the men’s 200m butterfly, Brooke Forde (Louisville, Ky./Lakeside Swim Team) was seventh in the 200m IM and Will Licon (El Paso, Texas/Longhorn Aquatics) finished seventh in the men’s 200m breast.
