Alexandra Walsh won two events and set a meet record Friday at the Speedo Junior Championships – East meet Friday in Knoxville, Tenn. First she set the Junior Championships meet record in the women’s 100-yard breaststroke in 58.19. A short time later, she was back in the pool for the 100y back, which she won in 51.45. Her wins were her second and third of the meet, after taking the 200y IM Thursday in meet record time.
Other winners in Knoxville included Olivia Carter in the women’s 400 IM (4:09.94); Kieran Smith in the men’s 400 IM in 3:43.64; Gabriela Albier in the women’s 100 fly (52.59); Cody Bybee in the men’s 100 fly (46.50); Kelly Pash in the women’s 200 free (1:45.24); Robert Freeman in the men’s 200 free (1:33.98); Dillon Hillis in the men’s 100 breast (53.28); and Destin Lasco in the men’s 100 back (46.73). Nashville Aquatics won the women’s 200 free relay in 1:30.62, while Allegheny North won the men’s 200 free relay in 1:19.83.
At the Speedo Junior Championships – West meet in Iowa City, Zoe Bartel set the West meet record in the women’s 100 breast in 58.98. Emma Carlton set a pool record in winning the women’s 100 fly in 52.11, and Katharine Berkoff set the pool record in winning the women’s 100 back in 51.95.
Jack Levant won the men’s 400 IM in 3:45.75. It was his second win of the meet after winning the 500 free Thursday. Also winning her second event of the meet was Vanessa Pearl in the 400 IM (4:05.80). Pearl won the 200 IM on Thursday.
Jack Dolan doubled up Friday, winning both the 200 free (1:34.78) and the 100 back (47.10).
Other winners in Iowa City were Ethan Hu in the men’s 100 fly (47.14); Ella Ristic in the women’s 200 free (1:46.90); and Zane Backes in the men’s 100 breast (53.16). Fort Collins Area Swim Team won the women’s 200 free relay in 1:30.41. Rancho San Dieguito won the men’s 200 free relay in 1:22.57.
