The second night of the NCAA Women’s Division I Swimming and Diving Championship belonged to Stanford University, as Cardinal swimmers took the top spot in each event contested Thursday.

Stanford’s Janet Hu, Simone Manuel, Lauren Pitzer and Ally Howe kicked things off with a meet, NCAA, American and U.S. Open record in the 200 free relay, turning in a time of 1:25.43.

From there, Olympian Katie Ledecky and U.S. National Team member Katie Drabot took 1-2 for the Cardinal in the 500-yard free in 4:26.57 and 4:34.86. Ledecky’s time was a pool record.

Stanford Teammate and U.S. National Team member Ella Eastin set a meet, NCAA, American and U.S. Open record in the 200 IM in 1:50.67. Olympian and U.S. National Team member Kathleen Baker was second for the University of California in 1:51.35. Another National Team member, Bethany Galat of Texas A&M University, was fourth in 1:53.17.

Manuel was back in action with a pool record in the 50 free in 21.18. Olympian and National Teamer Abbey Weitzeil of Cal was fourth in 21.67.

Howe, Kim Williams, Hu and Manuel capped the night with a meet, NCAA, American and U.S. Open record in the 400 medley relay in 3:25.09. Olympian and National Teamer Lilly King of Indiana University helped the Hoosiers to a second-place finish behind Stanford in 3:26.09. Baker and Weitzeil helped Cal to a third-place finish in 3:26.86.

Other U.S. National Teamers swimming in finals Thursday included Mallory Comerford, who helped Louisville to a fourth-place finish in the 400 medley relay and a fifth-place finish in the 200 free relay.
