SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Olympian Lilly King (Evansville, Ind./Indiana Swim Team) set the year’s fastest time in the 100-meter breaststroke, touching in 1 minute and 5.61 seconds, while Chase Kalisz (Bel Air, Md./Athens Bulldog Swim Club) won the 200m butterfly and the 200m individual medley in times of 1:56.22 and 1:57.64, respectively on day three of the TYR Pro Swim Series at Santa Clara.

The pair led a group of several athletes that took home TYR Pro Swim Series titles on the second-to-last day of competition at George F. Haines International Swim Center.

Katie Ledecky (Bethesda, Md./Stanford Swimming) opened the evening of competition with a convincing victory in the 800m freestyle, touching in 8:11.08, nearly 15 seconds faster than the second-place finisher. Zane Grothe (Boulder City, Nev./Mission Viejo Nadadores) picked up the men’s 800m freestyle title in a time of 7:55.14.

Regan Smith (Lakeville, Minn./Riptide) won the 100m backstroke in an impressive 59.75, while Ryan Murphy (Jacksonville, Fla/California Aquatics) squeaked out the win in the men’s 100m back in 53.26.

The women’s 200m butterfly podium was decided by .07 seconds, with Katie McLaughlin (Dana Point, Calif./California Aquatics) out-touching Kelsi Dahlia (Westampton, N.J./Cardinal Aquatics) and Smith in a time of 2:10.40.

Andrew Wilson (Bethesda, Md./Longhorn Aquatics) captured the 100m breaststroke in 1:00.68, less than a second faster than Kevin Cordes (Naperville, Ill./Tiger Elite Racing) who touched in 1:01.12.

Simone Manuel (Sugar Land, Texas/Stanford Swimming) out-touched her training-mate at Stanford, Lia Neal (Brooklyn, N.Y./Stanford Swimming), by 0.2 seconds in the 100m free in a time of 53.85. Caeleb Dressel (Green Cove Springs, Fla./Bolles School Sharks) won the men’s 100m free in 48.96.

“I was happy with it,” Dressel said of his swim. “I don’t think I was ever under 49 at this point in the season. I think we’re six or seven weeks out from [Nationals]. I’m happy with the workload right now.”

Melanie Margalis (Clearwater, Fla./Saint Petersburg Aquatics) and Kalisz closed out the meet with the 200m IM, as Margalis won the race in 2:12.07.

The four-day meet concludes on Sunday. The daily preliminary round opens at 9 a.m. PT followed by finals at 4:40 p.m.
