USA Swimming's Swimposium program is a one-day program providing educational presentations for clubs, officials, coaches, parents and athletes.
As part of the annual USA Swimming budget, resources are allocated to fund a maximum of 12 Swimposiums per year. Each Local Swimming Committee (LSC) is eligible for funding every three years.
USA Swimming’s Member Services Director works closely with the LSC to design an agenda that specifically addresses the needs of their membership while incorporating general information about USA Swimming’s programs, services and goals. Presenters address a variety of topics such as club leadership, parent education, athlete clinics, officiating and sports science. Theoretical as well as practical information is provided and the audience is encouraged to participate.
The LSC contact is responsible for setting up logistical arrangements for the Swimposium and actively promoting the program within the LSC to ensure that there is high participation at all sessions offered. Upon completion, the LSC is asked to provide a brief written evaluation of the program.
Information about Swimposiums is provided through the Member Services department and the Sport Development Consultants. Once approved, USA Swimming will work with the LSC contact to provide speakers and funding for each presenter (airfare, hotel, per diem and honorarium, if applicable, is provided by USA Swimming).
