Screening and Selection
The first line of defense
Background checks and pre-employment screens are critical tools to selecting the best possible people for staff and volunteer positions by USA Swimming clubs. All coaches, officials, and volunteers must satisfactorily pass a criminal background check in order to become non-athlete members of USA Swimming. Additionally, all USA Swimming clubs must perform three required pre-employment screens on any new employee. Read more...

Free for all members
We can all help foster safe and positive environments by educating ourselves on the tragic issue of abuse. USA Swimming offers training for all members with specific training for coaches, officials, and other non-athlete members, parents, and athlete. You can start your online training today.
Recognizing, Responding & Reporting
The responsibility of reporting
Reporting inappropriate behavior is the key to stopping that behavior. USA Swimming requires any person with credible and specific information regarding misconduct or abuse to report it to USA Swimming Safe Sport Program staff. Read more...
