Rosters Set for 2023 World Aquatics Junior Championships

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – USA Swimming announced the rosters of coaches and athletes for the World Aquatics Junior Championships – Netanya 2023 on Monday. The event will take place September 4-9 at the Wingate Institute in Netanya, Israel.
Athletes were selected for this team based on results from the 2023 Phillips 66 National Championships. Athletes qualifying for World Juniors must be between the age of 14 and 18 on December 31, 2023. The full roster can be viewed here.
Six members of the girls’ team – Piper Enge (Mercer Island, Wash/Bellevue Club Swim Team), Bailey Hartman (Danville, Calif./Crow Canyon Sharks), Leah Hayes (Sugar Grove, Ill. Fox Valley Park District Riptides), Teagan O’Dell (West Covina, Calif./Mission Viejo Nadadores), Erika Pelaez (Hialeah, Fla./Eagle Aquatics) and Molly Sweeney (Carmel, Ind./Carmel Swim Club) – will compete in three individual events each.
Daniel Diehl (Cumberland, Md./YMCA of Cumberland) will pace the boys' squad as he is scheduled to compete in five individual events: 100m freestyle, 50m backstroke, 100m backstroke, 200m backstroke and 200m individual medley.
Ken Heis (boys' team) and Ginny Nussbaum (girls' team) will serve as head coaches. Chuck Batchelor, Joe Keller, Mary Korey, Abi Liu, Joe Natina and Jason Walter will serve as assistant coaches.
This event marks the first time Israel will host a World Aquatics Junior Championships. More than 600 athletes and 100 national federations are expected to compete at this event. More information on the 2023 World Aquatics Junior Championships can be found here.
