USA Swimming, the national governing body for swimming in the United States, announced today the opening of the 2024 Community Impact Grant Application. Supported by the USA Swimming Foundation, these grants are awarded to clubs nationwide to increase programming for underserved communities, support diverse coaches, and create additional competitive opportunities in the U.S.

In 2020, USA Swimming and the USA Swimming Foundation introduced the Community Impact grant program to increase competitive opportunities within USA Swimming clubs.

“Our commitment to expand opportunities and improve access to the sport continues to grow each year with the Community Impact Grants,” USA Swimming Managing Director of Sport Development Joel Shinofield said. “The support of the USA Swimming Foundation enables us to partner with clubs and ensure more kids from communities across the country have competitive swimming opportunities.”

Through these grants, USA Swimming and the USA Swimming Foundation hope to grow the pipeline of champion athletes and create more opportunities to broaden community access to USA Swimming.

Only USA Swimming member clubs are eligible for the Community Impact Grant. Clubs are encouraged to apply if they are committed to connecting, collaborating, and impacting their local communities through competitive swimming.

Priority is given to applications if a swim club identifies with at least one of the criteria below

  • A registered USA Swimming Club that partners with a school, municipality, or other public entity to create new or expand opportunities in communities lacking USA Swimming programming
  • The club is at least 51% women-owned/led
  • The club is at least 51% minority-owned/led
  • A registered USA Swimming Club that partners with and operates out of a Historically Black College or University.
