TYR Pro Swim Series Adds Quarterfinal Round in 50m Stroke Events for 2027

TYR PSS Header

As preparations for LA28 continue, USA Swimming is again updating the TYR Pro Swim Series format to give athletes more experience racing under international conditions.

In 2027, each of the three TYR Pro Swim Series stops will feature one 50m stroke event contested over four rounds: prelims, quarterfinals, semifinals, and a final. The format is designed to prepare athletes for an evolving international racing landscape, giving U.S. athletes a chance to manage multiple high-intensity swims over three days in the 50m stroke events.

At each stop, prelims and quarterfinals of the featured 50m stroke event will be held on Day 2, with the semifinal on Day 3 and the final on Day 4. All other events will be contested as prelims/finals, with the 800 and 1500 freestyle swum as timed finals and the top eight seeds racing in the evening session.

Each stop features a unique event order created by the USA Swimming National Team Division. The format change for each competition is listed below.
