DANA SKELTON

Advisor, Southern Zone

Dana Skelton has coached with the First Colony Swim Team (FCST) of Missouri City, Texas since August 2006. Throughout her time with the team, she has coached at every level. For the last eight years she has been coaching the 9-10 age group and collaborating with the coaches on the team as the Head Developmental Coach.

Engaging daily with the young swimmers led Skelton to her passion for helping coaches, parents and swimmers as they enter to the sport. She also loves helping develop young coaches for the future of the sport, promoting coach education, and providing guidance to young girls and their mothers as they navigate their time through sport.

Dana has served as the FCST rep for Gulf Masters, on the coaching staff for the Southern Zone Select Camp, the Meet Task Force for Gulf Swimming, coaching staff for the Texas All Star Camp, Chair of the Gulf Swimming Club Development Committee and was a member of the Age Group Development Committee for USA Swimming. In 2020, Skelton received the award for USPOC Developmental Coach of the Year.

Before joining FCST, Dana earned her bachelor’s and master's degree in Kinesiology from California State University, East Bay.
