Olivia Carter Sets 200m Butterfly Mark at Speedo Junior Nationals

EAST MEADOW, N.Y. – Olivia Carter of Enfinity Aquatic Club set a meet record in the women’s 200-meter butterfly and three members of Team USA for the upcoming FINA World Junior Championships were victorious Tuesday on night one of the Speedo Junior National Championships at the Nassau County Aquatics Center.
In the first final of the night, Carter touched in 2:09.02 for the victory ahead of runner-up Lindsay Looney, who also clipped the previous seven-year-old mark with a time of 2:09.22. World Championships team member Dakota Luther was third in 2:09.58.
Meanwhile, Carson Foster, Daniel Roy and Erica Sullivan each were winners in tune-ups for this month’s FINA World Junior Championships in Indianapolis. Foster (Mason Manta Rays) took the men’s 200m fly in 1:58.47, Roy (King Aquatic Club) won the men’s 100m breast in 1:01.42 and Sullivan (Sandpipers of Nevada) earned the win in the women’s 800m free in 8:33.49.
Rounding out the night one winners were Zoie Hartman (Crow Canyon Sharks) in the women’s 100m breast with a time of 1:08.65 and Johann Calloni (Scarlett Aquatics) in the men’s 1500m free in 15:18.44.
The five-day meet runs through Saturday with daily prelims at 9 a.m. ET followed by finals at 5 p.m. ET.
