Luther Takes Down Meet Records on Night Three of Speedo Junior Nationals

Fresh off her first World Championship appearance, Austin Swim Club’s Dakota Luther cruised to a new meet record in the women’s 100m fly. Luther posted a 58.59 to take a tenth off Felicia Lee’s 2009 meet record. Enfinity Aquatics’ Olivia Carter was the only other swimmer to break 1:00 in finals, touching second in 59.38.nter.
La Mirada Armada’s Taylor Ault, a member of the national junior team, kicked off the third night of finals with a victory in the women’s 400m free, stopping the clock at 4:11.62. Fellow national junior team member Erica Sullivan of the Sandpipers of Nevada (4:12.92) and Lauren Pitzer of Lakeside Aquatic Club (4:13.29) rounded out the top three.
Two swimmers shared the title in the men’s 100m fly, as Terrapins’ Alexei Sancov and Nitro Swimming’s Shaine Casas posted matching 53.24s for first. It marked Sancov’s second win of the meet, as he won the 100m fly last night. Delaware Swim Team’s Jake Johnson took third in 53.80.
Irvine Novaquatics (7:31.63) wrapped up the evening with a win in the men’s 4x200m free relay.
The five-day meet runs through Saturday with daily prelims at 9 a.m. ET followed by finals at 5 p.m. ET.
