Distance Session Wraps TYR Pro Swim Series at Austin

AUSTIN, Texas – Chile’s Kristel Kobrich and Japan’s Shogo Takeda were victorious in the 1500-meter freestyle on Sunday to close the TYR Pro Swim Series at Austin at the University of Texas’ Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.
Kobrich won the women’s race in 16 minutes, 17.11 seconds – more than 15 seconds clear of the field – while Takeda took the men’s victory in 15:13.16.
Zane Grothe (Boulder City, Nev./Unattached) finished third in the men’s 1500m free in a time of 15:17.34 for his fourth top-three finish this week in Austin. He won the men’s 200m, 400m and 800m freestyle events and shares the men’s TYR Pro Swim Series lead with defending champion Chase Kalisz with 16 points after the opening meet.
Hannah Moore (Cary, N.C./NC State) was the runner-up in the women’s 1500m free in 16:33.42 for her fourth podium finish in Austin.
The six-stop TYR Pro Swim Series resumes in Atlanta, March 1-4.
