CHARLOTTE, N.C. – U.S. Olympic gold medalists Ryan Lochte (Daytona Beach, Fla./SwimMAC Carolina), Dana Vollmer (Granbury, Texas/California Aquatics) and Conor Dwyer (Winnetka, Ill./Trojan Swim Club) all picked up victories Friday at the Arena Pro Swim Series at Charlotte.
 
Lochte, a crowd favorite in Charlotte, led wire-to-wire in the men’s 400-meter individual medley and held on for the win in 4 minutes, 16.92 seconds. “I always feel like I can go faster, but for this right now – where I’m at – I think that’s alright,” Lochte said. 
 
He touched 2 seconds clear of runner-up Tom Peribonio of Ecuador, who was second in 4:18.92, with Michael Weiss (Reno, Nev./Wisconsin Aquatics) taking third in 4:21.81. 

Vollmer, the defending Olympic champion, won the women’s 100m fly by more than a second, finishing in 57.23. Canada’s Penny Oleksiak was second in 58.25, while Kelsi Worrell (Mt. Holly, N.J./University of Louisville) took third in 58.37.
 

“I’m really happy that that front-end speed was there, and I know that my back half will be there when we start resting,” said Vollmer, who was out in 26.53 over the first 50 meters and held on down the stretch for the win.

 
Dwyer cruised to the victory in the men’s 200m free in 1:46.68. Zane Grothe (Boulder City, Nev./Badger Swim Club) was second in 1:48.22 for his second runner-up finish in as many nights. 
 
Nineteen-year-old National Team member Lilly King (Evansville, Ind./Indiana University) posted the No. 2 time in the world this year – as well as a lifetime best – in the women’s 100m breast, winning in 1:05.73. Katie Meili (Colleyville, Texas/SwimMAC Carolina) took second in 1:06.54.
 

“That race was really good. I’m really excited with the time," King said. “I’m not super rested for this meet … we’ve been working hard – getting in shape and getting ready for the rest of the summer.”

 
Held at the newly renovated Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center, the long-course meters meet continues through Sunday with daily prelims at 9 a.m. EDT and finals at 6 p.m. EDT.

The Arena Pro Swim Series at Charlotte is the fifth of seven stops of the 2015-16 Arena Pro Swim Series. As part of USA Swimming’s partnership with swimwear leader Arena, the circuit will feature a record $350,000 in overall prize money. Swimmers may earn awards for top-three finishes in all individual Olympic events across the series. At each meet, $1,000 will be provided for a first-place finish, $600 for second and $200 for third. In addition to the single-event prize money, the overall male and female winners of the season-long Series will earn a $10,000 bonus.
 
For the third consecutive season, longtime USA Swimming partner BMW will award the grand prize of a one-year lease of a BMW vehicle to the highest-scoring eligible male and female U.S. swimmers.
 
Male and female overall Arena Pro Swim Series champions will be honored at the conclusion of the 2015-16 series based on the number of points accumulated throughout the seven meets. Participants will be awarded points in each individual Olympic event throughout the duration of the Series (Five points for first, three for second, one point for third place).
