ATLANTA – G Ryan (Kutztown, Pa./Club Wolverine) and Austria’s Felix Auböck were victorious in Thursday’s distance freestyle events to open the arena Pro Swim Series at Atlanta at Georgia Tech’s McAuley Aquatic Center.

Ryan came from behind over the final 100 meters to earn the win in the women’s 1500-meter freestyle in 16 minutes, 25.64 seconds, finishing ahead of Vietnam’s Vien Nguyen, who was second in 16:28.18.

Auböck took the victory in the men’s 800m free ahead of USA Swimming National Team member Zane Grothe (Boulder City, Nev./Badger Swim Club), touching in 7:55.86. Grothe was second in 8:01.94. 

The four-day meet continues through Sunday with daily prelims at 10 a.m. ET followed by finals at 7 p.m. Single- and all-session tickets are on sale now online.

Two days of television coverage from Atlanta will air on NBC Sports Network – live at 7 p.m. ET on Saturday and Sunday at 10:30 p.m. ET. Sunday’s final session also will air live on Universal HD. All three finals sessions also will be streamed live via NBC Sports, and a live webcast is available atusaswimming.org.
