ATLANTA – Paced by quick swims from Olympic champions Katie Ledecky (Bethesda, Md./Stanford Swimming) and Simone Manuel (Sugar Land, Texas/Stanford Swimming) 2016 Team USA Olympians won seven of the eight events contested on night two of the 2017 arena Pro Swim Series at Atlanta Friday at the McAuley Aquatic Center.

Ledecky decisively won the women’s 400-meter freestyle, touching in 4 minutes, 0.98 seconds – more than 8 seconds clear of the field. Earlier in the session, she was fifth in the women’s 100m free in 54.69.

“I was really happy with my swims and surprised by my times,” Ledecky said. “I think I got a 400 meter warm down in between the 100 and the 400 so I was still a little wet and a little shaky as I got on the blocks. But once I dove in just kind of got into 400 mode – my arms hurt and my legs hurt but I pushed through and just tried to stick to the race plan and do as best as I could.”

Manuel posted a blazing time of 53.82 to win in the women’s 100m freestyle.

“Everybody always wants to go faster at night, and I think my technical details were better than this morning, just the swimming wasn’t quite there. But the most important thing is getting those technical aspects down and the speed will come later,” Manuel said.

Other U.S. Olympians picking up wins Friday included:

• Blake Pieroni (Valparaiso, Ind./Indiana University) in the men’s 100m free in 49.18
• Katie Meili (Colleyville, Texas/New York Athletic Club) in the women’s 200m breast in 2:23.18
• Chase Kalisz (Santa Maria, Calif./California Aquatics) in the men’s 200m breast in 2:10.74
• Kelsi Worrell (Westampton, N.J./Cardinal Aquatics) in the women’s 100m fly in 57.50
• Tom Shields (Huntington Beach, Calif./California Aquatics) in the men’s 100m fly in 52.09

The men’s 400m free was won by Park Tae Hwan of South Korea with a pool-record breaking time of 3:44.38.
