Gold medalist Nathan Adrian (Bremerton, Wash./California Aquatics) was victorious in the men’s 100-meter freestyle and fellow Olympian Jack Conger (Rockville, Md./Nation’s Capital Swim Club) took the win in the men’s 100m butterfly on Thursday to open the TYR Pro Swim Series at Atlanta at Georgia Tech’s McAuley Aquatic Center.

The meet continues through Sunday with Friday and Saturday prelims at 10 a.m. ET followed by finals at 7 p.m. The meet concludes Sunday with timed finals for the 1500-meter freestyle at 8 a.m. ET. Single- and all-session tickets are on sale now online.

Adrian touched in 48.58 seconds to earn the 100m free victory, while Conger finished in a personal-best and pool record 51.00 to win the 100m fly earlier in the session.

“It’s just something that I’ve been mentally preparing to do now and everything that I’ve been doing in training has kind of indicated that I should definitely get under that barrier, but it keeps you hungry,” said Conger, who was looking to break the 51-second mark. “It’s hard to really complain with a best time.”

After three wins in the series opener in Austin, U.S. National Teamer Zane Grothe (Boulder City, Nev./Mission Viejo Nadadores) grabbed the men’s TYR Pro Swim Series lead with a win in the men’s 800m free in 7:53.88. Andrew Wilson (Bethesda, Md./Longhorn Aquatics) took home the men’s 200m breast win in 2:08.95.

Swedish Olympic champion Sarah Sjöström led off the meet with a victory in the women’s 100m fly in a pool record 56.62, followed by a runner-up finish in the women’s 100m free in 53.43.

Other international winners included Canada’s Kierra Smith in the women’s 200m breast 2:24.42 and Taylor Ruck in the women’s 100m free in 53.37 and China’s Wang Jianjiahe in 8:18.09 in the women’s 800m free.
