Ahead of this month’s Pan Pacific Championships, veteran USA Swimming National Team members Nathan Adrian (Bremerton, Wash./California Aquatics), Matt Grevers (Lake Forest, Ill./Tucson Ford Dealers Aquatics), Allison Schmitt (Canton, Mich./Pitchfork Aquatics) and Leah Smith (Pittsburgh, Pa./Tucson Ford Dealers Aquatics) were voted team captains by the 57 athletes slated to compete in Tokyo.
Adrian and Grevers also served as men’s co-captains for last summer’s FINA World Championships, while Adrian also was selected a co-captain for the 2016 Olympic Games. Schmitt also was a co-captain for the women’s squad in Rio de Janeiro.
The pool competition for the 2018 Pan Pacific Championships is slated for Aug. 9-12 with the 10-kilometer open water race set for Aug. 14.
