U.S. Roster Set for 2018 Junior Pan Pacific Championships

U.S. Roster Set for 2018 Junior Pan Pacific Championships

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Forty of the United States’ top up-and-coming swimmers will represent the Team USA at this month’s 2018 Junior Pan Pacific Championships, set for Aug. 23-27 in Fiji.

Headlining the U.S. roster, which was determined based on the results of the 2018 Phillips 66 National Championships, are four individual medalists from the 2017 FINA World Championships – Carson Foster, Ella Nelson, Daniel Roy and Emily Weiss.

“Over the last two Olympic quads we have seen multiple future Olympians excel at Junior Pan Pacs, and I’m thrilled to see many new faces on this roster. More than two-thirds of this year’s team will be competing internationally for the first time, and I look forward to seeing how the group comes together in Fiji,” said Mitch Dalton, USA Swimming National Junior Team Director.

The head coaches for the team are Allison Beebe of Santa Clara Swim Club and Dan Flack of Baylor Swim Club, and 2016 Olympic medalists Maya DiRado and David Plummer will serve as National Team athlete reps on the trip. A complete roster is linked below.

Featuring the top junior swimmers from the U.S., Canada, Australia and Japan, the Junior Pan Pacific Championships have consistently proven to be a springboard for international success. 2016 Olympic medalists Townley Haas, Lilly King and Blake Pieroni were members of the U.S. roster for the 2014 Junior Pan Pacific Championships. Current backstroke world record-holders Kathleen Baker and Ryan Murphy also are past participants at the meet.

Full selection procedures for this year’s team are located at usaswimming.org.
