FINA World Junior Open Water Championships Open Thursday


COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Twelve swimmers are set to represent USA Swimming beginning Thursday at the 2018 FINA World Junior Open Water Championships in Eilat, Israel.

The competition runs through Saturday with races for ages 14-19, as well as team relay events. Approximately 350 athletes from nearly 40 countries are slated to be in action. Start lists and results will be available online here.

The full schedule and a list American competitors are as follows:

Thursday, Sept. 6

5K: Ages 14-15

  • Mariah Denigan (Walton, Ky./Northern Kentucky Clippers)
  • Claire Pophal (Pepper Pike, Ohio/Lake Erie Silver Dolphins)
  • Jackson Carlile (Fishers, Ind./Fishers Area Swimming Tigers)
  • Connor Hunt (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield Aquatic Club)

7.5K: Ages 16-17

  • Leah DeGeorge (Anchorage, Alaska/Bolles School Sharks)
  • Chase Travis (Newark, Del./Nation’s Capital Swim Club)
  • Ethan Heasley (Hillsboro, Ore./Hillsboro Swim Team)
  • Ivan Puskovitch (West Chester, Pa./Episcopal Academy Aquatic Club)

Friday, Sept. 7
10K: Ages 18-19

  • Kensey McMahon (Jacksonville, Fla./Bolles School Sharks)
  • Erica Sullivan (Las Vegas, Nev./Sandpipers of Nevada)
  • Michael Brinegar (Columbus, Ind./Mission Viejo Nadadores)
  • Brennan Gravley (Las Vegas, Nev./Sandpipers of Nevada)

Saturday, Sept. 8

  • 4x1250m Age 14-16 Relay
  • 4x1250m Open Relay
