Kalisz Wins Two More at the Arena Pro Swim Series at Atlanta

ATLANTA – Olympian Chase Kalisz (Bel Air, Md./North Baltimore Aquatic Club) added two more victories, and gold medalist Lilly King (Evansville, Ind./Indiana University) posted the world’s No. 2 time for 2017 in the women’s 100-meter breaststroke to wrap up the arena Pro Swim Series at Atlanta.

After taking the men’s 200m breast and 400m individual medley earlier in the meet, Kalisz first won the 200m butterfly Sunday in 1 minute, 55.94 seconds and followed just under an hour later with a lifetime best of 1:57.21 to win the 200m IM by nearly 4 seconds.

King’s 1:06.20 effort in the women’s 100m breast was one of six wins for Team USA Olympians on the night. Katie Ledecky (Bethesda, Md./Stanford Swimming) won the women’s 800m free in 8:15.71 for her third victory in Atlanta, while Hali Flickinger (Spring Grove, Pa./Athens Bulldog Swim Club) took the women’s 200m fly in 2:08.90 for her second victory of the weekend and Melanie Margalis (Clearwater, Fla./St. Petersburg Aquatics) won the women’s 200m IM in 2:11.43.

Other National Team members picking up wins were Andrew Wilson (Bethesda, Md./Longhorn Aquatics) in the men’s 100m breast in 1:01.07 and Ali DeLoof (Grosse Pointe, Mich./Club Wolverine) in the women’s 100m back in 59.96.

In the men’s 1500m free, South Korea’s Tae Hwan Park touched in 15:06.38 for his third victory of the weekend. Japan’s Ryosuke Irie won the men’s 100m back in 53.50.

The final stop of the 2017 arena Pro Swim Series is slated for June 1-4 in Santa Clara, California.
