HANGZHOU, China – Olympic and world champion Caeleb Dressel (Green Cove Springs, Fla./Bolles School Sharks) led the United States men to gold in the 200-meter freestyle relay and added silver in the individual 50m free to lead Team USA on night four of the 2018 FINA World Swimming Championships (25m).

The Americans totaled four medals on Friday and currently top the medal table with 21, 10 of them gold, through four nights of competition.

Dressel, who has amassed six medals in Hangzhou, broke his own American record in the short-course 50m free with a leadoff split of 20.43 seconds to pace the U.S. to gold and a world record in the men’s 200m free relay. Ryan Held (Springfield, Ill./Wolfpack Elite), Jack Conger (Rockville, Md./Nation’s Capital Swim Club) and Michael Chadwick (Charlotte, N.C.) followed, as the Americans touched in 1:21.80 to clip Russia’s 2014 world record.

Dressel followed with silver in the men’s 50m free in 20.54, just 0.11 seconds off his record-setting relay split.

Also winning silver on Friday was Ryan Murphy (Jacksonville, Fla./California Aquatics) in the men’s 50m backstroke in an American record 22.63, while Kelsi Dahlia (Westhampton, N.J./Cardinal Aquatics) took bronze in the women’s 50m butterfly in 24.97 for her sixth medal of the competition.

Men’s 200m Freestyle Relay – Final

Team USA won its sixth straight relay in Hangzhou and set its fifth world record, breaking a 2014 mark held by Russia.
Dressel set the American record in the 50m free leading off the relay with a split of 20.43.

Dahlia won her sixth medal at the 2018 FINA World Championships (25m). 
She was just four-hundredths of a second off her American record of 24.93.
