After a jaw-dropping performance at last month’s International Swimming League competition in Budapest, U.S. National Teamer and Olympic gold medalist Caeleb Dressel has been nominated for the title of November's “Athlete of the Month” by the United States Sports Academy. Everyone is encouraged to cast a vote on the Academy’s website at ussa.edu/aom/aom-ballot/.

Dressel stole the show in Budapest, capturing short-course world records in the 100-meter Individual medley, 100m butterfly and 50m freestyle and a short-course American record in the 100m freestyle. The record-breaking performance earned him MVP honors and helped the Cali Condors earn their first ISL title.

Not only were his three swims good for world records, but he became the first swimmer in history to go under 50 seconds in the 100m I.M. (went 49.28) and under 48 seconds in the 100m butterfly (went 497.78).

His nomination adds to a long list of honors and titles dating back to July of 2019. Since then, he has been named 2019 Male Athlete of the Year at the 2019 Golden Goggle Awards and Male Swimmer of the Meet at the 2019 FINA World Championships, and has combined for five world records across SCM and LCM competitions.

Voting for the award closes at 6 p.m. ET on Thursday, December 10. Also earning nominations for male athlete of the month are Yang Eui-ji, baseball, South Korea; Dustin Johnson, golf, United States; Daniil Medvedev, tennis, Russia; DeVonta Smith, football, United States; and Eiki Takahashi, race walking, Japan.
