USA Swimming is excited to continue supporting member clubs in their efforts to achieve Safe Sport Club Recognition. This program allows a USA Swimming member club to demonstrate its commitment to creating a healthy and positive environment free from abuse for all its members through the development and implementation of club governance measures, Safe Sport policies and reporting mechanisms, Safe Sport best practices and training to athletes and parents.  

Effective immediately, in support of the Keeping Athletes First Action Plan, the Keeping Athletes First Working Group has approved new incentives for USA Swimming member clubs achieving Safe Sport Club Recognition and respective Local Swimming Committees (LSCs) for assisting member clubs in their efforts.  

LSCs with the following percentages* of member clubs within its geographic territory achieving Safe Sport Club Recognition within the stated timeframes will receive the financial incentive and Match-Up Promotions coupon codes detailed below: 

• 25% of member clubs in the geographic territory achieve Recognition by May 1, 2021: $1,500 and $200 Match-Up coupon code.  
• 50% of member clubs in the geographic territory achieve Recognition by June 15, 2021: $2,000 and $300 Match-Up coupon code. 
• 75% of member clubs in the geographic territory achieve Recognition by July 15, 2021: $2,500 and $400 Match-Up coupon code. 
• 100% of member clubs in the geographic territory achieve Recognition by September 1, 2021: $3,000 and $500 Match-Up coupon code. 

In total, LSCs can potentially earn up to $9,000 and $1,400 in Match-Up coupon codes.  LSCs are strongly encouraged to use incentive moneys for programs directly benefitting athletes such as the athlete travel fund or for athlete summits, camps and/or grant programs. LSCs are also strongly encouraged to utilize the Match-Up coupon code for Safe Sport items for distribution at LSC events.  

Additionally, upon achieving Safe Sport Club Recognition, USA Swimming will send member clubs a USA Swimming Safe Sport branded pop-up changing tent.  

USA Swimming stands with its member clubs in a commitment to Safe Sport efforts. Along with its challenges, 2020 brought a 400% increase in member clubs achieving Safe Sport Club Recognition compared to 2019. 

In addition, all member clubs that achieve SSRP status will continue to be automatically entered into a monthly drawing for the chance to win a virtual visit from a National Team member or alum through December 31, 2021.
