After a 19-medal performance last weekend at the Berlin leg of the FINA Swimming World Cup, a team of 43 junior athletes and four U.S. National Team members traveled to Budapest, Hungary for the next leg of the competition. Twenty Americans, 17 of whom being junior athletes, swam on the opening night’s finals session in Hungary, resulting in one gold, one silver and one bronze medal on the day.
The session kicked off with the women’s 400m freestyle, which saw Long Island Aquatic Club’s Cavan Gormsen claim silver in 4:01.46. The medal gives Gormsen the third medal of her time in Europe after winning gold in the 800m freestyle and silver in the 400m freestyle last weekend at the FINA Swimming World Cup in Berlin.
Gormsen’s Long Island Aquatic Club teammate, Tess Howley, also added another medal to her European tour, finishing third in today’s 200m butterfly in 2:06.67.
