Applications are now open for the 2022 National Diversity Select Camp, which is set to take place May 5-8 at the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Training Center. Applications will be open February 1 through February 28, 2022.
The National Diversity Select Camp was created to empower athletes from diverse backgrounds and under-represented populations. Attendees will get the chance to attend various workouts and training sessions as well as learning and conversational sessions from decorated individuals within the sport.
“My favorite part is not only meeting everyone and learning all of their different backgrounds, but being able to spend time training with them and just having a different perspective than what I get from training with my teammates at home,” said Tera Brilmyer of Firestone Akron Swim Team, who attended the camp in 2021.
The camp is geared towards 14-to-16-year-old athletes from underrepresented communities. All attendees will be provided lodging, meals, ground transportation to/from the designated airport and full airfare cost. Alumni from the camp include 2020 Olympians Simone Manuel, Jay Litherland, Torri Huske and Natalie Hinds.
