The final USA Swimming Zone Select Camp of 2022 takes place this week at the University of Maryland. These four zone-specific camps provided in-water workouts and a number of classroom sessions covering various topics. The goal of the annual program is to provide ignition, motivation and information for athletes to continue to set goals, work hard, excel in swimming and feel empowered to take ownership of their swimming careers.  

Alumni of these camps consist of 33 current USA Swimming National Team athletes, 10 of whom are recent 2020 Tokyo Olympians.  

This year there will be 296 different clubs from 52 LSCs represented. Selection was done automatically through USA Swimming’s SWIMS database, and the fastest two available athletes in each zone per event and gender were invited to participate. Scoring was done based on the 2021 long course season combined IMX points.  

The four camps were held across the country over several weekends.  

Central Zone Select Camp (University of Cincinnati) – May 19-22, 2022 
Southern Zone Select Camp (University of Louisville) – May 26-29, 2022 
Western Zone Select Camp (San Diego State University) – May 26-29, 2022 
Eastern Zone Select Camp (University of Maryland, College Park) – June 16-19, 2022
