All Four Swimmers Nominated Take Home Awards at 2022 ESPYS

The 2022 ESPYS took place Wednesday, July 20 in Los Angeles, Calif., and saw all four swimmers on the nomination ballot capture awards.
Katie Ledecky led the way for the swimming contingent, taking home awards for Best Athlete, Women's Sports and Best Olympian, Women's Sports. Ledecky was one of only three athletes to win at least two ESPYS awards, joining the National Basketball Association's Stephen Curry (Best NBA Player and Best Record-Breaking Performance) and Major League Baseball's Shohei Ohtani (Best Athlete, Men's Sports and Best MLB Player). Ledecky's awards come after a four-medal showing at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. She has continued the momentum into this year, winning four gold medals at the 2022 FINA World Championships and is expected to swim at the upcoming Phillips 66 National Championships.
Her U.S. National Team teammate Caeleb Dressel was named Best Olympian, Men's Sports for his five gold medals at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. Dressel edged out Olympic powerhouses Nathan Chen (figure skating), Declan Farmer (sled hockey) and Nick Mayhugh (track & field).
The swimming sweep rounded out with the Best Athlete With a Disability, Women's Sports and Best Athlete With a Disability, Men's Sports awards going to Jessica Long (swimming) and Brad Snyder (paratriathlon), respectively. Long captured an impressive six medals at last summer's Paralympic Games, while Snyder won Paralympic gold at the Paratriathlon Men's PTVI event..
