Ferguson Named in Sports Business Journal’s Game Changers Class of 2023

by USA Swimming
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Shana Ferguson, Chief Commercial Officer for USA Swimming was named among Sports Business Journal’s Game Changers: Women in Sports Business class of 2023. Selected from hundreds of nominees, the 2023 class consists of 50 women recognized as shaping and transforming the future of the sports industry.
“Shana’s leadership is an incredible asset to our organization and the sport of Swimming. She embodies what it means to be a Game Changer and is integral to our continued efforts to redefine what it means to be a best-in-class National Governing Body” USA Swimming President and CEO, Tim Hinchey III said.
Ferguson joined USA Swimming in 2019 as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO). A former collegiate swimmer at the United States Naval Academy, a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and a long-time sports-industry executive, she brings her extensive experience to a familiar sport. Following a decade with sportswear giant Under Armour as Head of Global Experiential Marketing, Head of Global Corporate Responsibility and Head of Marketing for UA Canada, Ferguson builds on her list of accomplishments at the country’s leading sports governing body.
"I am lucky to be at the world's pre-eminent NGB, working alongside an extraordinarily talented staff,” Ferguson said. “We draw inspiration from the 7-year-old finding joy in swimming, the coach thanklessly opening the pool for 5 a.m. swim practice, and the parent volunteering weekend after weekend at our meets. I am humbled to be a part of this sport and this team.”
Ferguson will be highlighted in a special section of the September 25 edition of Sports Business Journal and will be recognized at the Game Changers Conference October 24 at the Marriott Marquis Times Square.
